United Way Community Investment Volunteers Needed – Montevideo American News

United Way of Southwest Minnesota

United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) needs a limited number of volunteers to help review community impact grant applications submitted by local nonprofits applying for program funding for 2022-23. This is an exciting and influential volunteer opportunity for locals to learn more about programs in our service area while getting feedback on how funds raised from our most recent campaign are being invested. .

Community Impact Grants are the primary means by which United Way of Southwest Minnesota reinvests donations into our communities. United Way fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community. In Southwest Minnesota, we focus on health, education, financial stability, hunger, safety and well-being. The programs provided funding to improve the lives of residents of Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine and parts of Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles and Redwood counties in Minnesota.

Selected volunteers will be assigned to teams to assess applications, including each program’s plans and objectives, metrics and results, and financial management. They will also meet with program representatives to learn more and ask any additional questions they may have. Based on this information, teams will submit their funding advice and recommendations for each program that applied. These funding recommendations will then be forwarded to the UWSWMN Board of Directors at the end of June.

Individuals selected to serve as Community Investment Volunteers must complete a unique training facilitated by the UWSWMN. The training will take place on Thursday, April 21 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. via Zoom. The review of grant applications will take place from April 28 to May 20 at the convenience of each panel.

If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, are available to attend the April 21 training, and live in the UWSWMN service area, please submit your application by visiting UnitedWaySWMN.org/GRVolunteer. Volunteer applications must be submitted no later than April 1, 2022. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 507-929-2273 or [email protected]
