Text description provided by the architects. The lamp The Community Center project is part of the National Neighborhood Recovery Program “Je Veux Mon Quartier” of the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism, born in 2006, which aims to promote physical and social initiatives in vulnerable sectors, which develop through a process of citizen participation, in which the community defines its wishes regarding the infrastructure of the neighborhood to which it belongs, which become the foundations and guidelines of the project. Our studio is involved in this process at the design and detailed engineering stage of the project proposed by the community.

The design project of a community center aims to offer the inhabitants of the neighborhood a meeting and organization space, where they can recognize themselves as a community and develop their collective projects. The location defined to create the project has the character of an urban edge, which forces us to articulate the residential plot with the landscape of the hills and its connection with the park that would develop to the north. Given the abundant sunshine and high temperatures of the place, the project is designed as a shaded, ventilated and landscape-oriented space. The metal structure rises from the ground, taking the level of access from the sidewalk, the public space of the district. Its coverage rises above the ceiling of the speakers to generate ventilated coverage.

Leaving the structure visible, the metal exoskeleton houses 3 usage spaces, a multipurpose room, a lounge/services, and between these two spaces the access point, an intermediate space for conviviality. One of the characteristics of the design process of this project is the constant interaction with the community, which culminated in meetings agreed with the neighborhood committee, during which the progress of the project was presented, the concerns were collected and finally a resolution was raised. . Certificate of Final Project Approval.
