Reston Community Center Announces Appointment of Maggie Parker as Director of Offsite and Collaborative Programs
The Reston Community Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Maggie Parker as Director of Offsite and Collaborative Programs.
As RCC solidifies its commitment to reaching the community outside the walls of RCC’s two facilities, Parker will lead all offsite programming, including its extensive summer concert series and family events at Reston Opportunity neighborhood venues.
Parker has an impressive history of public and community relations as well as event management in Reston. Most recently, she was Executive Director of Partnership Reston, and spent more than 10 years in various roles in strategic communications, community, government and public relations for Comstock Companies. She was previously with Reston-based Myers Public Relations, overseeing community event production, public relations and community outreach.
“We are combining our Community Events and Outreach and Collaboration units and adding capacity to the new department to help keep pace with the growth of our services,” notes RCC Executive Director Leila Gordon. “We are delighted to bring Maggie on board to guide the planning and execution of a growing range of offerings for Reston’s neighborhoods.”
Parker is a Reston resident involved in numerous community organizations, including serving as president of Public Art Reston. She was the winner of the Best of Reston award in 2019.
“Working with the exceptional staff at RCC to deliver their fabulous programming in Reston will be exciting and fulfilling for me,” says Parker. “The mission of the Reston Community Center reflects one of the founding precepts of Reston’s vision, which is to provide a variety of recreational opportunities, including a wide range of cultural and recreational facilities. This department will continue to move RCC beyond its brick and mortar homes to build a community for everyone, everywhere in Reston.
Parker will begin his new role on August 29.
