McLean Community Center Events Calendar for September 2022

The McLean Community Center (MCC) offers the following activities in September. Please see the center’s website, www.mcleancenter.org, for up-to-date information. Residents of the central tax district, the smaller District 1A-Dranesville, are eligible for fee reductions. The center is located at 1234 Ingleside Ave.


American Red Cross blood drive

Thursday, September 8
Noon – 5 p.m.

MCC helps the American Red Cross with various blood donations! There is an urgent need for donors of all ethnicities to support patients in need. Join us and support the community with your life-saving blood donation. All donors will receive a $10 Amazon gift card via email. Find bargains and treasures at this outdoor community parking lot sale with up to 60 vendors selling household items. Do you have any tips? Local residents are invited to sell household items, and a limited number of commercial or flea market vendors may also participate. Come celebrate the Old Firehouse’s 32 years of service to the Greater McLean community! Activities include live music, airbrush tattoos, street performances, a living history exhibit at the old fire station, concessions, various entertainment and free popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones while they last. Customers are encouraged to bring a bike to donate to Wheels to Africa!

The Sons of Mystro are brothers who use their violins to perform classic reggae and American pop songs from artists such as Al Green, LMFAO, Bob Marley and Dua Lipa. Day trip to the old fire station

iFly & Movie

8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

$90/$80 MCC District Residents

Prepare to be blown away! iFly is an indoor skydiving activity, an adrenaline rush that makes you float through the air. A signed waiver is required to participate. After the flight, the group will watch one of the latest movies at a nearby movie theatre. iFly admission, lunch, and movie tickets are included in the fee. Participants should bring extra cash for movie concessions, if needed.


MCC Board Meeting + Public Budget Hearing

Wednesday, September 28
6:30 p.m.

The meeting will begin with the public hearing on the fiscal year 2024 budget; the hearing will be followed by the regular monthly Board meeting. All Board meetings are open to the public. Residents of the Tax District (Small District One A-Dranesville) who wish to speak at the “Citizens’ Feedback” portion of the meeting are asked to call the Center at 703-790-0123, TTY: 711, to be put on the agenda.

The McLean Community Center offers a continuous program of activities for adults and children, including a wide range of courses, lectures, study trips, camps, art exhibitions, theater performances and specialist shows . The Center also sponsors major community events such as McLean Day at Lewinsville Park in May and the July 4 fireworks at Langley High School.
