Workshop Celebrate Chaitra Navratri (Spring Navratri) (Virtual)

Tuesday, March 29, 6 p.m.

$7/$5 MCC District Residents (fee is per device)

With the onset of the Indian heat comes the Chaitra Navratri festival, a nine-day Hindu festival that marks the transition from spring to summer. Navratri festivals usually occur at times of seasonal change, with Chaitra Navratri and Sharad Navratri (the one that occurs in autumn) occurring when the length of day and night are similar. Both are times when we eat particular foods, fast, and/or eat smaller amounts of food to sustain our bodies through seasonal changes. In the Hindu context, fasting does not necessarily mean no consumption of food. Often it’s about eating a special diet, and fasting foods can be quite tasty. Join us in this Chaitra Navrati workshop to learn how to prepare a Gujarati faraali (fasting-compliant) dish.
