McLean Community Center Events Calendar for June 2022

The McLean Community Center (MCC) offers the following activities in June. All customers are encouraged to wear masks inside the building. Please see the center’s website, www.mcleancenter.org, for up-to-date information. Residents of the central tax district, the smaller District 1A-Dranesville, are eligible for fee reductions. The center is located at 1234 Ingleside Ave.


The old fire station

Open day
for 7th graders

4-7 p.m.

The Old Firehouse is opening the doors of its after-school program to 7th graders from all elementary schools in the MCC tax district! Join the OFC to discover all that the old fire station has to offer – free of charge – for the rest of the school year. Transportation from Franklin Sherman, Chesterbrook and Churchill Road Elementary Schools to the Old Fire Hall will be provided by Old Fire Hall vans. All participants from other schools are welcome but must be dropped off by a parent or guardian.

The Old Firehouse presents After 7, a themed party that includes raffles, contests, prepared food and drinks. One of the DMV’s hottest DJs will play the best hip hop, top 40 and dance hall tracks, along with your requests. Get ready to have fun and join us… After 7.

By popular demand, the foreign language film series The Alden is back! Curated by Director of Performing Arts Sarah Schallern Treff, with more than a little help from our audience, the series will pick up where it left off so abruptly in 2020, with a few surprises. All screenings are free, but prior registration is required. . Schedule subject to change.

This is the last meeting of the 2021-2022 Board of Directors and the first meeting of the 2022-2023 Board of Directors. All Board meetings are open to the public. For all ages. An essential part of the nine-day Hindu autumn festival, Navratri, Garba is an intoxicating and energetic style of folk dance from the Indian state of Gujarat. This community event has been revamped so that everyone can join in the fun anytime of the year! This Garba360 engagement is funded by the Mid-Atlantic Arts Mid-Atlantic Tours program with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The McLean Community Center offers a continuous program of activities for adults and children, including a wide range of courses, lectures, study trips, camps, art exhibitions, theater performances and specialist shows . The Center also sponsors major community events such as McLean Day at Lewinsville Park in May and the July 4 fireworks at Langley High School.
