Hosparus Health opens $1.7 million community center
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Kentucky. — Hosparus Health of Green River opened a 4,465 square foot community center in 462 N. Bypass Road in Campbellsville. This expansion will allow the nonprofit hospice and hospice care organization to increase capacity and reach hundreds of additional families who are seriously ill in Adair, Green, Marion, Taylor and Washington counties.
Construction is expected to begin in April and end in September. The facility will replace HGR’s current Campbellsville office at 295 Campbellsville Bypass and serve as the local headquarters for all palliative care, hospice services under its Pallitus Health Partners brand, and bereavement services through the Hosparus Health Grief Counseling Center .
The project will be funded in part by $500,000 raised through Hosparus Health’s People of Compassion global fundraising campaign, which raised a total of $29 million to improve and expand hospice and palliative care services in the Kentucky and Indiana. The rest will be funded by Taylor County Bank. Project costs include $100,000 for land purchase, $1.4 million for construction and $200,000 for furniture, fixtures and equipment. The building was designed by the architectural firm Schmidt Associates. The general contractor for the project is LBM Construction Co. Inc.
To meet the growing need for its services, HGR has increased clinical and support staff to 35, surpassing its current space. The organization served 486 hospice patients in 2021, and that number is expected to continue to grow significantly over the next five years.
“We believe no one should have to live alone with a serious illness, so it’s absolutely vital that we grow alongside the changing needs of our community,” says Jennifer Thompson, Community Director. “Whether it’s a condition that can be comfortably managed for many years or an illness that is nearing its end, we are with our patients and their families through every stage of the disease. Our new facility will allow us to reach more people than ever before and meet them where they are on their journey. »
