Cox Employees to Support Southeast Region Agencies with $85,000 in Community Investment Awards

Cox Communications Press Release

Cox Communications today announced that it will award more than $85,000 to nonprofit organizations in its Southeast region through Cox Charities, an employee-run, funded and guided giving program. Cox is accepting applications for Community Investment Grants at through September 20, 2021. The Community Investment Grant program began in 2015 and gives money to 501(c)(3) organizations for programs that benefit people in Cox’s service areas. Agencies can apply for grants of up to $5,000. Applicants will receive their funding status in October 2021 and award winners will receive payments in December 2021.

Cox employees donate to Cox Charities through recurring payroll deductions and one-time donations each year. The dollars are then invested in the areas where the employees live. To date, nearly $700,000 has been donated to local communities in the southeast Cox region, which includes Acadiana, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Florida Gulf Coast (Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach), Central Florida (Gainesville and Ocala), and Central Georgia (Macon and Warner Robins).

“Our mission is to build a better future for our friends and neighbors,” said Erin Monroe Wesley, vice president of government and public affairs for Cox Southeast. “Our employees donate money from their paychecks to support Cox Charities because of the value it brings to the communities in which we live and serve.”

Community investment grants support nonprofit services in youth, education, social issues, and the arts.

  • Organizations must be eligible for tax-exempt status under IRS Code 501(c)(3) to be considered.
  • Agencies must be physically located and provide services within the Cox residential service area.
  • Applicants must meet a need in the community without duplicating services.
  • Applicants should submit only one application; multiple requests will result in disqualification.
  • Nonprofits should visit to view the full list of qualifications and apply.
