YORK – York City Council will receive an update on the community center project next week when it meets in regular session.

Cheree Folts, Director of Parks and Recreation, will address council regarding the progress of the extensive and large-scale renovation/repair work that has taken place at city facilities.

Work began last year and there have been delays along the way, due to problems with the availability of construction materials and the discovery of serious structural problems that had never been seen before.

Now the project is coming to an end and Folts will give a better idea of when it might be open to the public again.

It will also provide updated rates for community centers for review.

Also on the board meeting agenda for Thursday, January 20:

• Council will consider updating the City Safety Committee.

• Mayor Barry Redfern will present certain nomination recommendations, including: the nomination of Sheila Hubbard to the Nebraska Public Food District Retail Rate Review Committee and Retail Food Review Advisory Board; appointment of Redfern to the board of directors of the York County Aging Services Commission; and the appointment of Jeff Beins to the Community Redevelopment Authority Advisory Group.
