Community Service Spotlight: 7-Eleven, Murphy USA, GPM Investments and Enmarket
This was the third showing for the annual Enmarket Charity Classic, part of the company’s sponsorship of the Club Car Championship at the Landings Club. More than 250 golfers participated in the charity tournament this year.
“Enmarket works hard to be a good corporate citizen in the areas we serve,” said Brett Giesick, former president of Enmarket and now chief operating officer of parent company Colonial Group Inc. that our stores provide, but also the support for the community at large as well. Enmarket is thrilled to be able to support two such worthwhile organizations.”
This year’s tournament raised $20,000 more than last year’s event.
Enmarket also donated 500 gallons of diesel fuel to assist residents of North Bryan County in their cleanup efforts following devastating tornado destruction in areas around Pembroke and Black Creek. Enmarket has partnered with Badger Rental Services to help power fleets of trucks, tractors and construction equipment provided by volunteers helping clear trees and debris from the storm.
“This past week has been quite unforgettable for the people of North Bryan County,“ said Garrett Shurling, president and CEO of Badger Rental Services. “The contrast between the tragedy and the loss that some of our neighbors have experienced with the incredible outpouring of help from the rest of the surrounding region is quite one thing.“
Shurling decided to lend a hand after speaking with a landscaper friend who had volunteered for the cleanup, but admitted time on the job site and fuel to run his equipment were starting to become an issue.
“I called my business partner, Aaron Drew, and we decided to go power up the community,” Shurling said. “We were blown away when Enmarket contacted us and said they wanted to partner up.
“Thanks to Enmarket‘s generosity, we have loaded and supplied the good people who give their time for our neighbors,“ Shurling added. “Tons of pickup trucks, trailers, skid steer loaders, tractors and excavators have appeared every day and you wouldn’t believe the difference in just a few days after so many people’s hard work. Although some places are still totally devastated, our neighbors have restored some sort of new normal for tons of families.“
GPM Investments is partnering with JDC, a global humanitarian organization, to raise funds to help alleviate the growing refugee crisis in Ukraine and neighboring countries.
