WALDO Fla. (WCJB) – “We are very happy to see even more smiles on the children’s faces.”

Families and summer campers gathered in Waldo to enjoy the waterslides, giveaways and snowcones at the Waldo Community Center.

Comcast Cable hosted the event to generate community engagement.

Company officials announced a multimillion-dollar initiative for Waldo residents by expanding high-speed Internet services.

Comcast’s Stefanie Bowden said Waldo is one of six Florida cities included in the expansion.

“We support communities and want to make sure they know they’re aware of everything we have to offer from the Comcast side,” Bowden said.

Children from Waldo Summer Camp attended the event. Program director Lisa Hill tells us she started the program out of compassion for the children in her community.

“It’s for low-income families. Some parents can’t afford to send their kids to camp,” Hill said. “I organize a free camp every summer.”

Lisa Hill said these events bring smiles to campers and keep them engaged, busy and safe in the community while school is closed.

Guests were able to participate in giveaways with prizes such as chrome books, backpacks and school supplies.
